On boxing day, after my adventure in Walmart, two friends and I went out to a cabin up the Ingraham Trail here in Yellowknife. The cabin is owned by the Yellowknife Scouts, which we were once all a part of and still have a hand in in someway.
Although we only went for one night it was nice to get out of town and just relax. I’d like to say I was able to get away from the distractions of the Internet and technology but upon arriving at the cabin I found the I had full cell service on my iPhone. I was very shock, and well, pleased. We came to the conclusion that whoever deals with the cell network area, whether Bell or NorthweTel, put up another repeater around Prelude Lake, which is near by to where we were.
I took my small camera just for kicks and to give you all a sense of where I was.
Having the full service out there is a real toss up for me. I enjoy getting away from it but having it out there encourages me to go out there more often because I will still be able to publish stuff I write. Being out there clears my head and allows me to focus, so maybe it will be a productive thing. Keep in mind although I do have service and can tether it to my computer for Internet, I won’t have the same usage habits. I wont be surfing for hours on end, I only have a limit of 2gb per month and don’t want to use it up in one weekend.
Readers, where do you go to get away from distractions, like the Internet and cell phones? If you were me and had service out there would you use it, would it encourage you to go more often? I want to know.
Big B says
AT&T blocks iPhone tethering inthe US 🙁 but on the other hand, there areno silly “limits” on my data usage.
I miss Pontoon. Love that first pic.
