It is something I have wanted to do for a long time, but never really put any effort into doing. Until the other day when for some reason I grabbed one of the tripods at the office and took it out to the front porch.
If you don’t know, HDR photos are actually a combination of at least 3 images all with different exposures. More common than not, the 3 photos have exposures of -3, 0, +3.
Then using a program like Photoshop or Photomatix you can combine those photo. You also have a lot you can change and play with to make the photos look the way you want.
I of course, though, used a preset and went with it. At first I like the way they look, but after staring at them, I begin to think they are a little over done.
I definitely want to try and play will these types of photos more. Some say they are over done, while I really like looking at them.

Well Kyle, it’s all about what you want from the HDR Technique, and it is a technique, not a “look” as many would have you think. As a confirmed practicioner myself of the “Black Art” I use both the surreal and natural looks in my work. It all depends on the subject matter and sometimes how I feel on the day I do the processing. Generally people tend to shoot 3 exposures at -2, 0 and +2, or 5 exposures at -2, -1, 0, +1 and +2.
Good luck with your processing and as always, have fun.
