8am is the time, and the Grande Prairie airport is the place. The drive from Fort St John is only 2 hours, but when road conditions are slightly unknown, you tend to plan for a large margin of error. So here I sit with an hour and a half wait until my flight boards.
I am flying Air Canada to Yellowknife, which is normal for me, as they seem to be the only ones who offer decent points flights. My first stop on this 3 flight adventure is Edmonton. Nothing exciting about this little jaunt at all. Us passengers all pile into a little Dash 8 and take off for an hour long flight. Because this flight is so, lets say, cramped I only listen to Podcasts. I don’t think there is room for me to to try and pull out the iPad let alone the MacBook Air.
As for my bag, well let me just say I am the worlds worst packer for flying. I always, always, pack to much and think I need more than I do. I was able to pick up a a large duffle bag in Jasper last weekend while there which is able to hold everything I packed. Where the dilemma comes in, is the weight. My bag weighed in a 57lbs. Which is 7lbs over the limit. I was under the impression that the overage fee was $30 for some reason. Well I was wrong. The overage fee is $75, HELLO. As I didn’t have a second bag to put some stuff in, as you are aloud two bag, I ended up taking out the MacBook Pro and just carrying it. Doing this brought the bag down to 48lbs. Now I’m going to be boarding my flight with two laptops and a iPad. Yes this is a little excessive and really just takes away from the whole light and easy to carry aspect of the Air and iPad. All is good though as I sit and wait.
It is good to be early I suppose. As I anxiously sit here and think about it. I rather be bored waiting to leave than rushing to catch the flight feeling panicked.
