A Bacon Weave perfect for a sandwich

The idea must have come from Pinterest, as that seems to be origins of all my cooking ideas lately but none the less it is a good idea.

That idea being to weave strips of bacon into the perfect size for a sandwich and then bake it.

I always keep a stock pile of bacon in my freezer just incase of emergencies but you can go to the store and get yourself a pound of regular bacon. I then cut the bacon in the middle, halving the strips into little strips, which are around the length of a piece of bread.

You just simply have to weave those trips 3 by 3. The resulting weave should be about the size of a piece of bread. I laid them out on a cookie sheet with tinfoil.

I cooked the weaves on a broil in the oven and flipped them over when I felt they were cooked on one side.

That is it. It is perfect for putting in the fridge and pulling out when you want to have a sandwich.

It is especially good on those leftover turkey sandwiches.

Pestorific Sandwich

There are times when even a not-so-good camera photo should be used to capture food. Like this evening; I’m having a chicken, pesto, mozzarella grilled sandwich that shouldn’t be forgotten.

It was perfect.

Sweet Egg Sandwich

Once a week I like to cook myself something special for breakfast. This week is was an egg sandwich, which doesn’t actually sound all that special. A normal egg sandwich to me, is 2 eggs mixed together with some cheese in a pan, omelet style with bacon in between two pieces of toast.

So what did I do differently this time? Well I made the omelet with cheese, as well as heated up some cooked bacon I had previously cooked. What I did next was simple. When the toast was ready I spread Philly Cream Cheese on one piece and place the egg on top of that. I then spread Sweet Onion Jam on top of the egg, finally placing the bacon and second piece of toast on top. What does that get you? Something that looks like this.

Of course the normal egg sandwich taste good when does right and the egg doesn’t dry out, but when the added flavour it taste amazing. The Philly Cream Cheese adds a creamy cheesy flavour, while the Onion Jam adds a sweet addition to the sandwich. This dish, is recommended.
