Scheduled Life

I’m a routinist, yes I just made up a word. A routinist is someone who always follows a schedule or routine.

Everyday I get up at the same time, have a shower, get dressed and then pop two pieces of bread in the toaster. After standing in the kitchen aimlessly for 2 minutes the toaster pops and I smother the toast with peanut butter and raspberry jam.

I then go off to work and show up at the same time everyday, which is about an hour before I really have too. I eat lunch at the same time everyday. Then of course I come how cook a meal and plop myself in front of the TV for the evening entertainment. Finally at about 9:30pm I head off to bed where I’ll read for about an hour.

Done. That is my routine. No it doesn’t sound all that different from most people, but at the age of 20, I have a routine of an old man, or something.
schedule
Sure everyone once and a while I’ll go crazy with the routine. I’ll change from toast to yogurt, or eat out instead of in, but I quickly go back to my, safe, routine.

The reason I bring this up is because I have never really known anything else. I have always gone to sleep relatively early and then gotten up and gone to work earlier than most. You can say that attitude is in my blood or I just acquired it throughout highschool. So what is so weird is seeing others routines. Both my roommate and boss have bizarre routine, if any. My roommate, who is the boss mans younger brother, and I all work at the same place, we do different things, and we have different schedules. Like last night for example. All three of us were at the office at about the same time all day yesterday, and at 5pm we all left and when home. I came home and cooked supper and what not, but roommate and boss went home and slept for a couple hours, I can’t do this, then just as I’m about to go to sleep, roommate gets up and goes back into work.

I understand that we all work differently, and this post is merely an observation. What I find interesting is, that according to Facebook and emails, they would have left the office again at around 4am. Which makes it only an hour before I got up, I don’t here anything while sleeping so I can’t be certain.

I wonder when I will see either of them today? Noon? The funny thing is I feel like the dull one, by doing the same thing every single day.

Am I?

Keep Waiting, I’m Tired

I know you’re all waiting to see what crazy crap I can come up with next but I got no time (in my opinion anyways) to write a full fled post.

You see I spent the good portion of the day in the airport, I mean like 6.5 hours. Don’t ask. Miss communication between me and buddy in charge. Picked up 4 skaters and was told we couldn’t get into the arena to build the ramps that are needed for tomorrow (Saturday). 8pm rolls around and the final skaters arrive and the ramp building commences. So here we are at 11pm, just got home almost all the ramps complete for the competition tomorrow.

The catch to all of this is that I still haven’t caught up on the sleep I missed coming out of night shifts. So for the last 16 hours I have been running on 5 hours of sleep but before that I was up for about 21 hours. As you can tell what may see like simple tasks were dragged out because of my lack of sleep.

Tomorrow is a new day and this weekend is packed full of events and I hope to pop in and out of them getting pictures and what not.
I’m tired so off to sleep I go to try and get at least 8 hours.

Peace.

Out of Yellowknife Vacation – Day 2,3,4

Well I better get on this as I have already let you down with my daily posts of my “eventful” trip.

If you follow me on twitter @the_bushman is will already have a good idea as to what I have been up to in the last couple days but let me fill the rest of you in.

My second day in Edmonton was much like the first. I was up early because I can no longer sleep for more than 6 hours at a time, so I came online until 11am. At that time my friends came and picked me up from my hotel and we grabbed bunch on our way back to the West Edmonton Mall. At the mall I got a new laptop/camera backpack that I quite like, as well I got to go in the Apple store and take in all the nice things that can be found there. I was told I looked completely out of place in the store as I was the only person with a plaid jacket and country look. There is another one of those moments where I feel out of place in this world.

After visiting a couple other stores around town we went to a $3.50 movie theatre and watched Marley and Me. A movie about the life of a untamed dog and his owners. Leaving the movie at about 6pm we decided it was definitely time for supper. Swiss Chalet was decided upon and off we went to find one. Once finding a rather busy one, I was able to enjoy a nice rack of robs with a garlic loaf. Eating that meal was an evening event of its own so when we were finished at the restaurant we all retired to our hotels for a good night sleep before our trek back to BC the next morning.

The Next Morning: Day 3,

Monday was ultimately uneventful except out flat tire while we were trying to leave Edmonton. The flat delayed us almost 2 hour but no matter we were getting out of there one way or another. After the 6.5 hour drive through places like Whitecourt, Valleyview, Grande Prairie, Beaver Lodge, and Dawson Creek we finally arrived at the House just off the highway here in BC. As it wasn’t that late a movie was put on but I was again way to tired and crashed.

Day 4,

After a breakfast of eggs, bacon and potatoes we headed in to Dawson Creek to go grocery shopping as it was direly needed. While heading in to town we quickly stopped by a wee bit of property with a cabin on it 10 minutes out of town that was for sale. A smile comes across my face as my imagination runs wild of the possibilities. Oh one can dream.

That concludes the last 3 days.

I am looking forward to tonights meal of Butcher Block steaks and potatoes.

Easy Rolling

I am beginning to really enjoy my daily schedule. At 11pm I head into work and stay at work throughout the night. I get off work at 9am and by this time I am quite tired even if I had slept all day the day before. I head over to Tim Horton’s like many other Yellowknifers do as a morning ritual. I got my bagel and coffee and head home. This is the point of the morning where I wake up a little again and feel as though I haven’t been up for the last 12 hours. When I get home I sit down to eat my breakfast while watching the morning new. I much prefer the news in the morning to evening news, there always seems to less…… politics….. No it is not just that. Its more about everyday living, than the governments stupidity, they talk about things that are actually interesting, and that might liven up your day. Once I finish watching the morning news I contemplate going to sleep and do the quick math in my head about when I would wake up if I went to sleep then. I sleep about 8 hours give or take 1 hour and I like to wake up some what close to the time I work so I don’t get bored sitting around my house waiting for the time to come.

I don’t do much else while I’m in working mode nor to I really have an contact with any other people. I work alone. I work 4 on 4 off, so it feels like I’m getting a long weekend every four day. Doesn’t that make you feel mad that you work 5 days a week with only 2 off! Don’t worry I will have to come back to reality sometime.

Have a good day at work. I’m going to sleep.

Just Call Me!

I have been thinking about writing about this for a couple days now and with me breaking my cell phone it only seemed right to write it now. The other day here at work I was taking the fleece blankets out of the dryer. Now I don’t use any dry sheets because we don’t have any so those blankets are some static. Well I was pulling them out and at the same time I pulled out my phone and ZAP! Ouch that was big! Right to my phone. I honestly didn’t really think that could break it but I guess I have been wrong before. Phone Dead, I put it on the charger when I got home and still nothing BAM. How does that make a person feel?

How would you feel if you phone broke? Lost? Alone? Shout out? Look around in today’s world who doesn’t have a cell phone. That’s fine I have nothing wrong with that. Good way for business, emergency, resource or what ever. It is test messaging through out teens that drives me nuts. Their whole lives are on phones. Messaging first thing in the morning, at super time, in the freakin bathroom. Where will it stop! What do they constantly talk about and why. I’m a “so, hows the weather today” type of guy, and that maybe one of my problems I can’t just chit chat with people on and on. I needed a purpose for conversation, business, work, family, etc.  Relationship are built and crumble through messaging. I know people who are just messaging people because they can, even if they are already with other people or doing something. It gets to a point where if no one replies to them, they send consecutive messages with question mark. Do you know how annoying that is on the receiving end.  It all so impersonal. If you want to talk to that person CALL THEM! That’s what the stupid things was originally made for. I work all night and sleep most of the day and I wake up to messages from the same people asking the same question over and over. If I’m not responding chances are I’m ignoring you or I’m sleeping. I don’t text people through out the night, although maybe I should start. What do you think huh?

Oh and to those who think its a bad idea to charge more than 10$ a month for unlimited messaging take a freakin hike. Its called business. The cell companies see that, oh, most of teens today have cell phone and have an outrageous amounts of messaging and I mean thousands. So why not charge a little more. Its the way the world goes. To the parents who would complain about this because they pay the bill, hears an idea make you freakin kids pay for it, their the ones using the stupid things. I’m the bushman and I’m leaving the 21st century, out to the cabin I go.

I felt like Lewis Black screaming writing that last paragraph!
