Spinach and Cream Cheese Omelette

Somehow I must have forgotten that I had already blogged about this spinach omelette I had made, but nonetheless I have done it again. This time though I taken more care in doing. I really wanted to try to perfect this and I believe I’ve done that.

What I used:

  • 3 Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup of Milk
  • Handful of Baby Spinach
  • Spoonful of Cream Cheese
  • Grated Cheddar Cheese
  • 3 Ham Rounds
  • 2 Pieces of Toast

It is not a difficult meal, but it is one that can be really enjoyable. The first thing I did was prep all my food.  I cracked the three eggs into a medium-sized mixing bowl, added in the milk with the eggs, chopped up the baby spinach into fine pieces and grated the cheese.

Now take a medium-sized frying pan and either spray it with Pam or add some oil or butter of some sort. Turn on that element of your stove to a medium heat and let it heat up.  While that is heating up, in the bowl with the eggs and milk put in your spinach and spoonful of cream cheese and mix it all together. The cream cheese may be hard to mix together so it might be a good idea to nuke it in the microwave beforehand.

Now that the pan has heated up properly in your ingredients are mixed together, pour everything in the bowl into the pan, slowly. Try to avoid any splatter. Now let the ingredients slowly cook.  I also sometimes cover that pan to keep the heat in. Put your three ham rounds into another pan and turn it onto a medium-high heat. My ham rounds were previously cooked so what I was doing was just browning the edges

Once your egg mix is firmly cooked on the bottom and you are able to lift one side sprinkle the cheddar cheese over the entire thing. Once you’ve done that flip one side on top of the other. Cover the pan again and let that firm up. Make sure you aren’t overcooking the eggs though, you still want to be slightly liquidy and not dried out.

At this point your ham rounds should be browned on both sides and you can put them on a plate. Your omelette, which I would suggest you flip over and let it simmer for a second on the other side, should also be very close to being done. Once done you can throw it on the plate as well. One thing I did not mention that I did earlier was put two pieces of toast in. You can use whatever kind of toast you like, but I like my white bread.

And there you have the final product. It is a good well-balanced meal, although I probably didn’t need three eggs or three ham rounds. I could’ve cut back on those. What’s your favorite way of making eggs?

Peace Glass has my Windshield Covered

Getting a windshield is something I hate doing. Having grown up in the Northwest Territories, specifically Yellowknife, I’m afraid that any bit of driving will get a crack in my windshield. In Yellowknife, in the winter, the gravel roads, all the roads. Everyone has a crack in the windshield, it doesn’t matter what type of vehicle you drive. That’s why I try to put off getting one as long as possible because you’re most likely going to get a crack right away.

The windshield and my Jeep when I bought it was Artie a roadmap of its own. There was cracks streaking up and around the passenger side. Luckily the driver side didn’t have any, so I was able to see out without any problem while driving. That was until I was driving back to Dawson Creek from Yellowknife.

As I was barreling towards the BC border from Alberta an oncoming truck and its trailer slightly swerved into a gravel area of the road. The result was this trailer picking up a fist size rock. And flinging it straight across the road. It bounced once twice and three times as I saw it coming towards me. I tried to swerve towards the other lane to avoid it from hitting the driver side, but I didn’t swerve enough and it hit the very edge on the passenger side resulting in a massive spiderweb. Glass shards sprayed everywhere on the passenger side seat.

I kept driving to Dawson Creek, and eventually Fort St. John that night. As it still wasn’t affecting the driver side, I wasn’t ultimately concerned about it. I knew I wouldn’t drive it much here in town but I knew it needed to be done. So finally on Thursday I called Peace Glass, a local glass store. They quoted me a good price and said they could do it the next day, so I said sure.

Peace Glass

If you went up close to this hole in my windshield you’d find that the only thing holding it all together was the protection plastic. Now this was unsafe of me, yes. Many people would probably get mad at me, but nonetheless I only really drove it to work in my house, which if you know is only a block.

I left my Jeep with them while I was at work and when picked it up at around 3:30pm. The process of doing this was easy and the staff were very friendly. I’m sure this is the same in most places, so that didn’t really strike me as special. What struck me as special was when I sat into the vehicle. I was in shock, not only had they replaced the windshield they had cleaned my entire dashboard and center consul. That I was not expecting. Maybe other company’s do it as well, but I was certainly impressed with Peace Glass. It was spotless and smelt wonderful.

Peace Glass

I would recommend Peace Glass to anyone. No they didn’t pay me to write this post, gosh they’re not even on twitter, I doubt that know about blogging. I chalk this up to me writing about great local businesses, , that I come across. Although his great as I think they are maybe you had a different experience. Share with me your experiences below in the comments.

Different Between Two Smartphone Commercials

I’m an Apple product lover, I don’t know if I would call my self Apple obsessed but everything I own is Apple. It is this way because I like their products, they fit my life and work how I want them to. I have no complaints about them.

Ironically I have found watching other smartphone makers commercials more enjoyable, like this one by Samsung. They are eye catchy and draw me in with effects and fun music. They are fun to watch, over and over again. They don’t really make me want a their phone though, what they do is make me want to get up and move or figure out how they did that effect in the middle. Nothing about the actual phone. This is where Apple has the floor.

Keeping in mind, a commercial isn’t what decides which phone I’m going to get. Apple nails down the WHY in their commercials. Why do people need this phone. They have commercials that tell you why Doctors, Teachers and Parents use them. They add a, soft, narration with classical soothing music. They don’t spin the phone around on the screen as someone dances to music, or shows you some analogy of why the phone is cool. Apple is going to pull at your heart-strings and give you real life applications of how the phone is used (not to be mistaken with how the phone works).

So one commercial is fun to watch and has a catchy beat and the other gives you reason and shows you why you need it. I find it shows how each company thinks and delivers a product. Although Apple has the market share and is making billions of dollars, they project an image that shows they care about their customers and want to give them something that works for them.

What do you think? Which commercial would you most likely cave too?

Biking Inspiration

This isn’t the biking you normally see a person doing, but I find it so fascinating. It is a lot harder than normal biking and something I have wanted to be able to do for a long time. Basically it is parkour for bikes. The idea is while on your bike you use the objects around you to find different and challenging routes to other places. So using walls, ledges, cliffs, benches, etc.

There is a reason I can’t do this, well actually there is about a 100 reasons I probably can’t do this. 100lbs, I think if I lost 100lbs I would be able to do this type of riding. If you watch the video you’ll see it takes a lot of muscle to pick up the bike and maneuver it through the air, bouncing it off different things.

I use to pretend I could do this, I think I even had a bike that was somewhat built for it, but I’m to much of a big lad. I like this video and I like the style. It isn’t a race, it is slow and thought out. I admire this as I like the technical component of it.

Doesn’t it look like fun?

Perogies Bacon and Banana Peppers

Time for another easy mean by KyleWith. Yes two blog posts in a row are about lame food you to can cook if you have any common sense.

First, buy frozen perogies from grocery store. They don’t have to be fancy, but you could find something higher quality. Throw those perogies in a big pot or pan with water and turn the stove on.
Perogies and Topping 3
The idea with boiling the water is to thaw and cook the perogies. While those are boiling away it is time to pull out what you want the “topping” to be. For me it was Bacon, Red Onion and Banana Peppers. Cut all this up and throw it in a pan.
Perogies and Topping 6
No need for oil in this pan because as the bacon cooks with the veg the grease from the bacon with prevent it from burning. Keep this on low to med on the stove. Now back to the perogies.

Perogies and Topping 2

Once the water in the pan with the perogies it is a good indicator that they are most likely cooked. Now you’ll want to drain all the water out of this pan. I personally put the perogies in another pan and add a little oil. Again this way that wont burn or stick to the pan as they fry.

Perogies and Topping 4

As your perogies are frying, check on you bacon and veg. The onions should be soft and bacon no longer raw. Pretty straight forward. This meal should be hard to screw up.

Perogies and Topping 5

When you feel – yeah I’m giving you the responsibility to figure this out on your own – your food is ready pull it off the stove. Put it all on a plate and add some sour cream if that is how you roll.

Perogies and Topping 1

Yeah, it was good. My only regret was putting so many Banana Pepper in to this meal. Its taste seemed to take over and heated up the whole meal. How do you have your perogies?
