A ToDo List and a Task Manager for Myself

The last six months that I’ve been working at Motion Media, I have been looking for a good solution for keeping tasks and ideas all in line. I’ve tried different software solutions, such as Evernote, Things, iCal and a couple other solutions, none of which I am happy with.

At the office we’re changing to a new project manager, I haven’t gotten into it very much yet, but I’m hoping that it is a solution to my issues.

I just got into using things again, but I wanted a better solution. I had this idea that what I want is an application that combines Evernote, Things and iCal. On a side note I figured out that I can combine iCal and things, but I would still like the ability to make notes.

My biggest issue with Things is its inability to sync between multiple computers and mobile devices. I want to be able to give myself something to do on one computer and then have it appear on another computer. On any given day I might use three different computers, all which might be mine so having Things in the cloud is where I want it. There is also no way that I’m going to spend $50 on Things for three different computers.

I think since Evernote seems to be an advanced application, I think they should add to-do lists with the functionality like Things and then the support of iCal.  Although I do like Evernote at some points I just think it is a glorified text editor.

Either way I’m still looking for the perfect task manager/to do list/scheduler for myself. If you know of anything please let me know I’m willing to try almost anything. I’m also looking forward to using the new project manager at work, as I will be able to document everything I do in the time that I doing it. As we all know I like to document everything I do, hence this blog.

At Home At Ikea

I guess I forgot to post these photos from my trip to Edmonton a couple weeks back. We of course did the northern thing and visited Ikea, we actually did get a boardroom table for our office. I always enjoy walking through Ikea and dreaming of the possibilities and then looking at prive tags and going “THERE IS NO WHAT IN H*LL” I can afford any of this.

Either way, some of the rooms are neat. They are clean, elegant and modern, something I so desperately want in a home someday. I envision a house – apartment – condo to have all hardwood flooring, stainless steal appliances, a gas stove and to be full automated. That is the big ticket for me, I want to have a highly efficient – green if you will – home that I can control from my phone.

I will get more into my dreams of a home some other time, but for now tell me what your favourite thing to do in Ikea is.

Facebook Deals are in Fort St John

FSJ Facebook Deals

Normally I wouldn’t write about anything technical here on KyleWith.com, I would leave all that on WithMedia.ca, but since this is pertaining to Fort St John, I thought what the heck.

I happened to be Checking-in on Facebook Place this evening when I noticed a little ticket. The ticket was for a Deal that was at Petron Communications, a local business here in FSJ, but also a Telus dealer. If you remember from a blog post I wrote on the Motion Media Blog I wasn’t sure if any of Facebook’s introductory Deals would be in the North. Turns out I was wrong.

So if you have an iPhone already, I’m assuming either a 3Gs or a 4, you can go to Petron, check-in on Facebook Places and get another iPhone 3Gs for free when you sign a 3 year contract.
